Wine consumption in France has been steadily declining since the early  1980s, with AOCs nevertheless performing better than everyday wines. At the same time, up until 2010, regular consumers gradually disappeared in favor of non consumers. 2015 has broken away from that trend, with the proportion of consumers, in parlicular occasional consumers, increasing noticeably to make up over half of the French population aged 15 and older.

Household consumption

In 2016, 44% of households in France reported buying Bordeaux wine: 10 bottles on average.
