Wine consumption in France has been steadily declining since the early 1980s, at the same time as the gradual disappearance of regular consumers in favor of non-consumers. The consumption of AOC wines, not significantly affected by the loss of interest for a while, has tended to subside in recent years. Since 2015, the proportion of consumers, in particular occasional consumers, has increased noticeably, making up over half of the French population aged 15 and older.
